From 18th June to 3rd July, Iseo Lake has been dressed-up with a shimmering yellow, welcoming “The Floating Piers” project with great enthusiasm and curiosity. A pier with a length of 4.5 km allowing people to literally walk on water, reaching Sulzano, S. Paolo and Monte Isola islands on foot. These places have always been seen from a distance or reached only by boats and ferry-boats and the original and shrewd artist Christo has linked them as if by magic. The artist has offered people the golden occasion to fuse together with works of art and landscapes, allowing to touch, feel and live them at their fullest.
A walk cradled by the lake water, in an evocative place among mountains and luxuriant nature.
The success of The Floating Piers, is in the fact that it is an evocative work, perfectly integrated in Iseo Lake natural eco-system, in which “the audience is an essential part of the work itself” (quoting the same words of the artist).
Moreover, another cause of success is the polyethilene, the material used for the installation, with very low environmental impact, which has been finally recycled and sold.

The famous pier has been traversed also by well-known personalities: politicians, international film stars, fashion models, journalists, athletes, bloggers. We can surely confirm that “orange is the new red carpet”!

An even with totally positive closing remarks. The flow has been higher than expected, it has been orderly and efficiently managed by the operators and safety/first aid teams. It has been a chance to show and make Iseo Lake area stand out; a territory full of history, colours, flavours and fragrances. An event able to remind Franciacorta inhabitants the honour of living in such a wonderful place.
